As part of its visit to Scotland, the Campaign for Owain’s Law was invited to tour the Tayside Biorepository at the University of Dundee to learn more about how patient tissue is handled, stored and made available for future use.
Ellie and the Campaign were shown around the facility and had the opportunity to discuss the practical processes involved in storing thousands of patient samples removed during surgery.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the importance of establishing clear and consistent pathways for patients who may wish for their tissue to be preserved for future treatment, diagnostics or research.
For the Campaign for Owain’s Law, understanding how tissue is handled in practice is an important part of developing proposals that work for patients, clinicians and researchers. The Campaign is very grateful to the Tayside Biorepository team for their time, expertise and open discussion.
