Owain’s Law Highlighted at Parliamentary Drop-In

This week, ahead of World Cancer Day, the Campaign for Owain's Law held a drop-in event in Parliament to highlight the tissue-freezing postcode lottery facing brain cancer patients across the UK. This event followed Ellie James' petition hand-in to Number 10 Downing Street on behalf of more than 45,000 supporters of her campaign.

Over 60 Parliamentarians from various parties joined us to hear about Owain's story and how inconsistent access to tissue freezing is limiting patients' chances to benefit from potentially life-saving personalised treatments and clinical trials.

Owain lost his life in part because only a small portion of his tissue was frozen – not enough to produce a full course of personalised treatments. We are grateful to all impacted families who attended and shared their personal stories. Owain's case is not an isolated incident, with thousands of patients likely missing out on key treatment and research options simply because their tissue isn't being stored correctly.

Thank you to all Parliamentarians who took the time to attend, pledge their support, and hear directly from those impacted.
