Plaid Cymru Commits to Strengthening Consent in Brain Tumour Care
Last week, Plaid Cymru revealed their commitment to strengthening the legal rules around patient consent for brain tumour surgery and the storage of brain tumour tissue. This is an important step to ensure patients and their families are given improved control, consent, and choice when it comes to their tissue.
The Campaign welcomes this and calls on other parties in Wales to follow suit to ensure no brain cancer patient in Wales misses out on a wide range of modern treatment and research options. Brain cancer is the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK. For these cancers, 2 out of 3 people will die within 12 months, placing brain cancer near the very bottom of the survival league table in Wales.
